Inauguration Day

Like No Other

On January 20th, 2021, it is expected that the American people will inaugurate their 46th President.

The Chief Justice of the land will have Joe Biden recite the Presidential Oath of Office at the U.S. Capitol, West Front, Washington D.C., immediately following the Vice Presidential Oath.

Surely, it will not be like their typical inauguration. And that might be the understatement of this year, which feels like a mere extension (continuation) of the worst year the whole world has ever seen going back multiple generations.

Progress

Of course they will have their nation's first female and first person of color to be sworn in as Vice President -- shattering that glass ceiling, and making the highest one within reach.

Full Steam Ahead

So barring any hiccups, at noon, Wednesday January 20th, following the oath of Kamala Harris, Joe Biden will be sworn in as president, becoming the second Catholic to assume this office.

Same Old Same Old

This will mark the come back to a career politician, after a briefly 'entertaining' but tumultuous, turbulent and trying four years under the most inexperienced politician to ever be elected as president of the U.S. It was bound to happen.

Not My President

What will be the same still, is that for the fourth straight time, about half of the nation will again be referring to the sitting president as "Not my President", yes and unfortunately with the 'call to unity' notwithstanding.

Not A "United" States of America

For a fourth straight time* the White House occupant, doing business in the Oval Office will be disliked by about half of the American people.

In the last 12 years the "union" has been undeniably split into two huge groups of Americans. And these two big partisan groups are not shy about displaying how they abhor and loathe each other.

*(five more times, if you want to add the Bush, father and son, and the Clinton presidencies).

Can We Get Along?

Yes Felicia, Rodney King's plea from almost 30 years ago, still haunts America, 'can we get along'? With a growing number of new voters casting their votes and a significant number of them toddlers, infants and who were not even born yet 30 years ago, many looking at past generations as the cause of their problems, their question would be 'get along how?'.

Rift Right Under the Surface

If anything the gulf between Americans of different generations, colors, cultures, accents, appearance, creed, status, education, preference, identity and more has become as obvious and unstable as the San Andreas Fault (which is long overdue for a major shaking).

No Americans cannot seem to get along back then, and they most probably would not be able to "get along" right now.

A Few Things Still Remains

The transition of power and the moving in of the new White House tenants will happen. Mostly peaceful is the hope of many.

And the new president will again be sworn into the highest position of the land to become the stereotypical most powerful person on earth, right hand up and left hand on top of a bible.

Faith

Biden is expected to use the same bible he used in his past swearing in events. It will be that same Biden family heirloom dating back when his family acquired it back in the 1890s. It will be close, but no he wasn't born yet at that time.

This bible is expected to be the same massive sized one, Biden has used throughout his long political career, as senator, as vice president and now finally as president.

Oath of Office

January 20, 2009

January 20, 2013

January 20, 2017

"I... do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States..So help me God."

Yes, so help us God. We will need all the help that we can get. The whole world does.

And in God we trust, just as it is written in our green bucks.
