Used To Be Asian Americans Were Insignificant

It's funny how the world has turned around 180°. In America, it used to be that Asians were invisible. No one really talk about them, unless to crack jokes at them, bully them or make them do their homework.

Now Asians are in a rare spotlight. And of course the corona has a hand on this and because of whatever this latest media agenda is all about.

Hollywood

Hollywood has always been anti-Asian. Yes, it may be hard to believe -- even if they are now singing a different tune and even if they are now all of a sudden praising Glen (who they killed off in the Walking Dead) as worthy of an Oscar best actor nomination. Don't worry though, they won't let him win.

Establishment

For a very very very long time people have made fun of Asians in America.

They were at the end of jokes in TV commercials, TV shows, MTVs and the movies. We've typecasted them as the uncool ones and those being bullied and that it's alright to make fun of them, trick them, steal from them, steal their girlfriend, this list is endless.

Of all the colors it has always been safe to make fun of Asians. It was socially acceptable. So people of all colors have done this for generations -- made fun of their eyes, the way they talk, how they dressed, how they drive and what they eat.

And don't you just say a little curse word when that netflix movie or series you wanted to watch is speaking Chinese (even though it is more likely Korean, Telugu, Hindi, Tagalog or Japanese)?

The Enemy

Politicians have portrayed Asians as the "enemy" and did them wrong for generations. It was a little different Asian depending on when you were born. Americans were first against the Chinese and all their derivatives -- to them, they were all little weird yellow people who speak funny.

Of course, everyone was against the Japanese people after Pearl Harbor. Then people were angry at the Viet Congs, after that, we were mad about the North Koreans then those with beards and with turbans.

Now, apparently we are back again against the Chinese. Although as we already mentioned, to non-Asians, every Asian is Chinese. And this hate has been going on for a long time just that no one used to care

Stop The Hate

But in 2021, as we've said, America has literally turned upside down.

People are now shouting, 'stop the hate', 'we love Asians', 'stop racism', 'Asians are nice people', yada, yada, yada. Social media is all 'why can people be so despicable?'

The rest of us are saying 'what hate?!?!'

'Stop dividing us!'

'Let them grow some.' (Be careful what you wish for).

In the meantime, there are still those who are shouting 'go back to the backward Asian country you came from!' And of all people, beating up little old Asian looking grandmas. (How much lower and more cowardly can one go?)

We can understand if Native Americans are saying "go back where you came from".

But if its a White guy?  I mean, do they want those real Americans telling them to their face to 'go back to Europe'?

To Hispanics, 'back to America del Sur por favor'.

To the Black guy? How does 'go back to Africa' sound like?

I know many would say their forefathers were forced to come to America. But come on, will anyone of us really want to go back to the old country?

Agenda

Pretty hard to miss that there is an "agenda" somewhere with all this stop this hate thing.

And this too will come to pass. Because we will never have an Asian Kobe, Asian MJ or Asian Larry Legend in the NBA. There will never be an Asian superstar in the NHL, the NFL, the MLB and whatever US soccer league. There will never be an Asian rockstar musician or Asian U.S. President (okay we will never have an Asian U.S. President directly voted in).

Safe Enemy

We will always hate on Asians, hard not to have somebody safe to hate on.

And yes not sure what part of the country you are hiding under a rock in, the "hate" on Asians is real, have been for over 100 years.

Brown and Yellow

But watch out, this social justice focus on Asians may be a short one but could be the start of something. Asians haven't been united and in fact Asians don't get along with other Asians, and hate and discriminate against other Asians as much as non-Asians do.

And Asians haven't really stood up for themselves, said anything or fought back. But now that Hollywood, social media and polticians are on their side, now Asian Americans can come out, be united and tell their side of the story.

Most Asians kept quiet because most Asian cultures are like that. But push them too far and like that guy who attacked that Chinese looking grandma in San Francisco, they would call 911 for you as well.

When all the different Asians come together (Yellows and Browns) then that quote from the movie 'The White Tiger' will come to pass, because the future belongs to the Brown man and the Yellow man. More than 60% of the world's population is Asian and growing.
