Cold Gun vs Hot Gun

It was widely reported that someone yelled "cold gun" before the actor Alec Baldwin (accidentally) fired that weapon which resulted in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuries to director Joel Souza.

Now what do we really know about cold guns in a movie set and also about firearm use in the film industry?

Gun Safety

For one, we should be aware that in the movie industry, there are very strict rules that are enforced as far as the use of firearms are concerned.

And with all the necessary safety steps involved when a firearm is used in a movie set, it is almost impossible now to have something happen like what happened with Alec Baldwin during the filming of his movie Rust.

Los Angeles Times interviewed and let armorer Larry Zanoff of Independent Studio Services, walk us through all these safety protocols that are in place.

So if a production company would simply follow these rules then there is almost zero chance of somebody getting hurt much less dying on a movie set because of a firearm.

Now that we know someone got hurt and another person actually died, then we also know that one or more people failed to do what they were supposed to do and they should be held responsible.

Should be simple enough.
