White privilege has been in the news lately thanks to Stephen A.
The subject of color has been a hot topic for awhile now and everybody is just emotional about it. Understandably though.
Here Stephen A. is flat out saying that Steve Nash got the job because he is White. Now, if he was Black, no one would have said anything.
Case in point, no one said anything about:
1. Doc Rivers
2. Jason Kidd
3. Derek Fisher
And yes even
4. Mark Jackson, who he said was passed up, when Steve Nash was given the head coaching job of the Brooklyn Nets.
For a long time sports writer and commentator, Stephen A. Smith sure has a short memory if not a selective one.
Because he conveniently forgot that just very recently these four all became head coaches without having any coaching experience.
And almost all of them just barely out of retirement. Yes not a single person will say anything about that because that would be a death sentence. (This could be silently called "Black privilege" in some circles).

Don't Get Me Wrong
There is "White privilege" even if many Caucasians will not admit to it.
But this is not one of them.
Also as already mentioned there is also a so-called "Black privilege" but as I have said, no one will ever talk about that. Almost as if you signed your own death sentence if you do.
Incidentally, in small part, there is also a "Latino privilege", mostly in regards to being able to speak Spanish in the US and get away with it. Yes, press 1 for Spanish. Y si no hablo Ingles. No other language has that privilege.
No big deal really but no one is yelling about any of those.
Stephen A. Smith, you have been very vocal about your stance and you have been right sometimes.
But clearly this time you are on the wrong and even other African Americans are telling you, that you are Not that you will listen anyway.
But we know where you are coming from.

Calling A Spade A Spade
Now if you would have just said, let us not do another "Mark Jackson to Steve Kerr" kind of deal and especially not to a Canadian. Instead of flat out calling this "White privilege" then it would have been alright. You don't want another Kerr in the making and another Mark Jackson who did not get his due recognition. We would totally understand.
But no amount of yelling and screaming will convince people that you have not wrongfully applied the term "privilege" in this case.

Yes there is "White privilege" we should all know that by now. As there is Black, Brown, Yellow, Red and Rainbow privileges. All unspoken.
These we should all know this by now. But don't call out every thing a privilege, some aren't and some, yes we just don't talk about them.
