We should all know by now that the establishment, politicians, Hollywood, big business, the media will create distractions to deflect the people from the mistakes they have committed.

A day after award winning actor Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock, media and Hollywood is up to its bag of tricks deflecting from that unfortunate and unexpected incident and putting the main issue to the sidelines again.

Media is coming up with news articles about the hair loss condition that is at the center of the controversy and hatching whatever backstory they can come up with. Also social media is full of postings saying this is all staged and that Will didn't really hit Chris or it wasn't a strong slap, Will was defending his wife's honor, and so on.

These are all to test the waters as they continue to review and weigh their options. They are considering the merits of when they do come out and say that this was all a publicity stunt.

The Main Issue

But the main issue is clear. All other issues are important but this is the main one.

This issue is a fellow actor who was merely doing what they were paying and expecting him to do, entertain, make jokes and read off a script, was hit for doing his job, while on the clock. LAPD, LA District Attorney and the CA Labor Board please take note. Isn't this is a hostile work environment and a violation of CA labor laws and LA municipal codes? (Also what ever happened to the investigations on the shooting on the set of the movie Rust?)

Double Standard

If an unknown actor did what Will did, or if this happened in any other CA workplace, the outcome wouldn't have been the same.

The scriptwriters selected the couple for this joke, because they were famous and because they weren't expected to do something like that. If Chris is not willing to file charges on Will, he should at least ask for damages on the ones who wrote the script.

Now the Academy and Hollywood are busy watching footages and making up a new script.

While they are on it, they should also write their arguments for toxic masculinity.
