Time Person of the Year

So Time Magazine announced their Person of the Year for 2020.

And Joe Biden and Kamala Harris shared this distinction.

(If you find them trying to intermittently explain why they choose these two, then it's not hard to see that they probably made a mistake).

Anyway, while the winning U.S. President is usually the person selected, so it wasn't a surprise that Joe and Donald Trump were among the finalists considered.

Candidates

Now aside from these two who hotly disputed the recent U.S. elections, there were two other candidates considered. They were Dr. Fauci (and the frontliners) and George Floyd (and the BLM movement).

So considering who they were selecting from, it really is a no-brainer who would have been finally selected.

Now what is unusual is Kamala sharing it with Joe. And considering she was not even one of the finalists. (Time might know something we don't, like Kamala might soon be the president or something).

2020

Although this being such a weird year, nothing should surprise us by now.

It is a good thing that the Supreme Court finally put an end to the long shot lawsuit filed to overturn the results of the elections. I mean imagine if they accepted and heard it and then ended up overturning the election result. It would have been a shame because Time already announced their selection prematurely. Also I would imagine all the news networks would have been a little embarassed as well. (That is if they still have a reputation they want to protect).

Who Should Have Been Selected

Now if you ask most people, Time should have selected healthcare frontliners to be the Persons of the Year, from among those finalists.

This choice would have been a logical continuation of what they did last year. (They selected Greta Thunberg).

Elephant in the Room

And in fact, Time should have selected Dr. Li Wenliang, who they wrote as An Eternal Hero, the Whistleblower Doctor in their February 2020 issue.

Dr. Li who was working in Wuhan, the Chinese city where the epidemic originated, died from the Covid-19 virus that month.

Dr. Li, was only 34 and he was the first one brave enough and have the foresight to warn his colleagues of the novel virus back when it was first obvious that there was a new deadly disease back in December 2019. With his courage, the World Health Organization finally had to appear to take this highly contagious new virus seriously. And people all over the planet finally took notice and discovered how China (and WHO) tried to hide this novel virus from their own people and everyone else.

Anyway, I guess no one really wants to embarass or make China upset, for sure not the media and not the WHO, and many other prominent people.
